The structure of Chunghwa Telecom Wireless LAN (WLAN)
Composed of wireless Access Point (AP),Wi-Fi WLAN card,and clients notebook / PDA.

WLAN Applications:
After getting on-line to the www.hinet.net with WLAN card, you can enjoy net-meeting, chat rooms, HiChannel VOD, on-line gaming, personal calendar, and read or write your emails. Just go to the areas within Chunghwa Telecom WLAN coverage, using your computer equipped with WLAN card / PDA and entering your HiNet account (ID and password) (HiNet ISP / HiNet Prepaid Card account), you can enjoy the convenience the broadband network brings.
Client devices required
Notebook / PDA.
WLAN card compatible with IEEE 802.11b(Self-provides or contact the staff for rental service if you don't have one.)
HiNet ISP account (including dial-up and ADSL account). For those who don't have HiNet ISP account, please go to http://e-pay.hinet.net to buy HiNet Prepaid Card and enable the account also on the website. When the prepaid points are running out, please purchase new HiNet Prepaid Cards at the website,too. If you want the account to be the same as the previous one, please follow the instructions on the website to replenish the points.
Firstly make sure the WLAN card is installed and setup successfully.
Set ESSID to be "hinet" (small letters)
Disable WEP.
Set your TCP/IP to be DHCP (that automatically assigns IP addresses to client stations).
Choose never dial-up connection of your browser.
Disable proxy.
Open the browser (IE / Netscape) and key-in any address (never keep the address blank) and then you can see the HiNet WLAN homepage.
Click "Start" on the HiNet WLAN homepage to begin the WLAN service.
For the first time using the HiNet Prepaid Card, please go to http://e-pay.hinet.net to enable the accounts.
Enter your HiNet account (ID and password) in the WLAN authentication page.
After authenticated successfully, you are on-line and begin to be charged. Then you can see the HiNet website while another logout window is also pop-up.
Remember to click "logout" in the logout window to end connection.
Note: Make sure your notebook / PDA is within the CHT WLAN coverage. Move into the coverage area if there is no signal or contact the service center nearby. (For detailed coverage areas, click HERE)
Price
The service is charged per minute.The access fee is NTD one per minute for HiNet ISP subscribers and one point per minute for HiNet Prepaid Card users.you can enjoy the convenience the broadband network brings.
Note: the service is one of HiNet value-added services. The fees are not included the monthly basic rate.
Billing
postpaid:For HiNet subscribers (dial-up and ADSL), you can use the service without application. The fee will be included in the monthly HiNet bill.
prepaid:For non-HiNet subscriber, you can use the service via HiNet Prepaid Card. The fee will be deducted from the prepaid points. For more HiNet Prepaid Card details please click HERE.
Note: For the first time using the Substantial Prepaid Card, the conferees have to go to http://e-pay.hinet.net to enable the accounts.
